Part 10: The Empty Tomb

JOURNEY TO THE CROSS

PART 10

Mark 16:1-8

  • AN EMPTY TOMB SHOWS JESUS WAS WHO HE CLAIMED TO BE

“‘Don’t be alarmed,’ he said. ‘You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid Him.’” Mark 16:6 (NIV)

“When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so that they might go to anoint Jesus’ body.” Mark 16:1 (NIV)

“For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures.” 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 (NIV)

  • What made Jesus’ movement different from all the rest? The Resurrection.

  • AN EMPTY TOMB SHOWS THAT WE HAVE A LIVING SAVIOR, NOT JUST A DEAD MAN.

“‘Don’t be alarmed,’ he said. ‘You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid Him.’” Mark 16:6 (NIV)

  • AN EMPTY TOMB BRINGS AN INVITATION OF GRACE.

“Don’t be alarmed,’ he said. ‘You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid Him.’ But go, tell His disciples and Peter, ‘He is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see Him, just as He told you.’” Mark 16:6-7 (NIV)

  • AN EMPTY TOMB BRINGS AN INVITATION OF RELATIONSHIP.

“But go, tell His disciples and Peter, ‘He is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see Him, just as He told you.’” Mark 16:7 (NIV)
