Philippians 2:3-11

“In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus.” Philippians 2:5 (NIV)

1. JESUS IS GOD.

“Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to His own advantage.” Philippians 2:6 (NIV)

  • If Jesus is God, you have to get more optimistic about your future.

“Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30 (NIV)

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39 (NIV)

“What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8:31 (NIV)

  • If Jesus is God, that’s also momentous news.

2.  JESUS BECAME HUMAN.  

“Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to His own advantage; rather, He made Himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.” Philippians 2:6-7 (NIV)

“For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form.” Colossians 2:9 (NIV)

  • Body and soul both matter.

  • Because Jesus was human – He understands you.

“In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus.” Philippians 2:5 (NIV)

3.  JESUS BECAME A SERVANT.  

“Rather, He made Himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross!” Philippians 2:7-8 (NIV)

“Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name that is above every name.” Philippians 2:9 (NIV)
