Philippians 3:7-14

“Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me…I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:12,14 (NIV)

1. KNOWING JESUS PERSONALLY CHANGES EVERYTHING.

“Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.” Philippians 3:12 (NIV)

  • Jesus pursues you with His amazing love.

“We love because He first loved us.” 1 John 4:19 (NIV)

2.  CHRISTIANITY IS NOT PASSIVE.

“Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:12-14 (NIV)

  • A Christian is someone whose entire life has been reoriented.

“This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new personThe old life is gone; a new life has begun.” 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NLT)

  • Christianity is not adding knowledge.

  • A Christian is someone whose entire life is revolutionized.

“Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13-14 (NIV)

I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of His resurrection and participation in His sufferings, becoming like Him in His death.” Philippians 3:10 (NIV)

Now this is eternal life: that they know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom You have sent.” John 17:3 (NIV)
