Psalm 14:1-7

  1. PRIDEFUL FOOLISHNESS BLINDS YOU TOWARD GOD.

Only fools say in their hearts, ‘There is no God.’ They are corrupt, and their actions are evil; not one of them does good!” Psalm 14:1 (NLT)

Will those who do evil never learn? They eat up my people like bread and wouldn’t think of praying to the Lord.” Psalm 14:4 (NLT)

Fools have no interest in understanding; they only want to air their own opinions.” Proverbs 18:2 (NLT)

Fools think their own way is right, but the wise listen to others.” Proverbs 12:15 (NLT)

For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—His eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. For although they knew God, they neither glorified Him as God nor gave thanks to Him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools.” Romans 1:20-22 (NIV)

1. THE SOURCE OF FOOLISHNESS COMES FROM OUR HEART.

“Only fools say in their hearts, ‘There is no God.’ They are corrupt, and their actions are evil; not one of them does good!” Psalm 14:1 (NLT)

2. FOOLISHNESS CAN’T UNDERSTAND GRACE.

Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion! When the LORD restores his people, let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad!” Psalm 14:7 (NIV)

  • Foolishness–the part of our heart that is threatened by God.

“Jesus answered them, ‘Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days.’ They replied, ‘It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and You are going to raise it in three days?’ But the temple He had spoken of was His body.” John 2:19-21 (NIV)

“For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.” 1 Corinthians 1:18 (NIV)
